Damar Resin
Damar (also spelled Dammar) is a resin originating from Asia (Indonesia), widely used for the production of varnishes. It is very interesting for fumigation. It has a fragrance similar to that of Chios mastic, but at a much lower price.
It is a resin that can be burned on charcoal tablets, even when very hot, without altering its fragrance. The resin melts on the charcoal tablets and disappears inside it, which continues to smoke.
The word Dammar comes from Malay (language spoken in Malaysia, Sumatra, etc.) and means light. It is a resin with a lemony smell, which is burnt in cases of melancholy, sadness, misfortune, etc.
The resin is usually covered with a fine whitish powder, but if you remove this layer of powder you will get beautiful, vaguely yellowish, translucent pieces.
