The Armenian Paper - Papier d'Arménie Tradition
Papier d'Arménie triple is a powerful interior sanitiser in the form of blotting paper, impregnated with benzoin resin, with recognised antiseptic and anti-odour properties since its creation in 1885.
In fact, this famous product has been manufactured in Montrouge, south of Paris and not in Armenia, for over a century, and is widely appreciated for its antiseptic and anti-odour properties. These highly prized properties come from the benzoin resin styrax tonkinensis or Siam benzoin of which it is composed. The variant of benzoin used to make Papier d'Arménie is styrax tonkinensis from Laos or Thailand, easily recognisable by its vanilla scent (unlike styrax benzoin from Sumatra).
Other Papier d'Arménie fragrances also exist, including Papier d'Arménie La Rose, created in 2009, and the special edition Year of Armenia in France, created in 2006 by perfumer Francis Kurkdjian.
How to use Papier d'Arménie:
After a meal that leaves a lingering odour in your home (grilled fish, cheese, etc.), detach a strip of Papier d'Arménie from the small notebook, light it and blow out the flame as soon as it starts to burn. Place it in the Etoile d'Arménie burner or in an ashtray.
The paper should burn slowly, without a flame, to release its fragrance and develop its full effectiveness. If you wish, you can air the room afterwards.
