Baieido Akiko – Japanese Ceramic Incense Stick Holders (5)
Baieido's Akiko ceramic holders are Japanese-made incense stick holders in animal form — charming little figurines that hold sticks securely while bringing a lively touch of Japanese craftsmanship to any space.
Japanese ceramic figurines as incense holders – cat, bear, owl & turtle
Each Akiko figure is a handcrafted ceramic object in the traditional Japanese style — a fumigation accessory and decorative piece in one:
Akiko Cat — A seated cat in classic Japanese ceramic painting, white with black and orange patches. A familiar, friendly companion for incense moments.
Akiko Bear — A small seated bear in warm beige with delicate accents. Simple and endearing.
Owl incense holder — A round, colourful owl available in two sizes — one of the most charming figures in the collection.
Turtle incense holder — A small turtle with a colourful shell. In Japan, the turtle is a symbol of longevity and steadiness.
How to use an Akiko incense holder
Akiko holders are designed for Japanese incense sticks with a diameter of 1 to 2 mm — as produced by Baieido, Nippon Kodo and other Japanese makers. The stick is inserted into the opening in the figurine; ash falls onto its base or onto a surface placed below. Place on a stable, heatproof surface to be safe.
Akiko figures also make an original and thoughtful gift for anyone who loves Japanese incense, ceramic craftsmanship and Japanese aesthetics.
