Saryane – Authentic Aleppo Soap from Syria (5)

Saryane Aleppo soap is made in Syria using the traditional method — from four natural ingredients: olive oil, laurel berry oil, water and lye, with no synthetic colourants or fragrances. Saryane is a French company specialising in the import of authentic Aleppo soap, carefully preserving the artisan craft of this ancient soap.

Authentic Aleppo soap in five laurel oil concentrations for face and body

The laurel berry oil percentage determines the character of each bar — from mildest to most intense:

  • 5% laurel oil — 95% olive oil: the gentlest and most accessible version, suited to everyday cleansing for all skin types including sensitive skin.
  • 12% laurel oil — 88% olive oil: a balanced everyday soap for face and body.
  • 20% laurel oil — 80% olive oil: a classic with a more pronounced laurel character, for a deeper cleanse.
  • 35% laurel oil — 65% olive oil: a more intense composition, suited to combination and uneven skin.
  • 55% laurel oil — 45% olive oil: the most concentrated version, with the most assertive laurel character.

Each bar is slow-cooked in a kettle in Syria using the traditional method, hand-cut and then air-dried for at least nine months — a craft unchanged for centuries.

How to use Aleppo soap for face and body

Lather the soap with water and apply to the face, body or hands. Let the bar dry fully between uses to extend its lifespan. As a general guide, the higher the laurel percentage, the more pronounced the scent and the more intense the cleanse.

Saryane Aleppo soap also makes a meaningful, natural gift for anyone who values authentic artisan soap and the traditions of the ancient world.
