Long Incense Sticks Baieido – Japanese Incense in Large Format (10)
The long and extra-long incense sticks from Baieido – one of Japan's oldest incense houses, founded in 1657 in Sakai – were created for extended meditation, ceremonies and large spaces that call for a gentle, continuous fragrance over several hours.
Kobunboku, Shukohkoku, Kunsho Daikunkoh – Baieido classics in large format
Baieido's large formats come in two lengths, each available in the house's most established blends.
Long incense sticks (24 cm, approx. 1 hr 15 min) – Available in the brand's classic blends: the herb-forward Kobunboku, the aloeswood-enriched variants Tokusen Kobunboku and Kaden Kobunboku, and the refined Shukohkoku composition. Well suited to quiet evenings, yoga or medium-length meditation sessions.
Extra-long incense sticks (34 cm, 1 hr 40 min to 2 hrs) – The longest format in the range, available as Kunsho Daikunkoh and Koh En Daikunkoh – two wood-forward traditional blends for extended ceremonies or large spaces that need continuous fragrance over several hours.
No bamboo core – All long Baieido incense sticks are made entirely from pressed aromatic ingredients, with no inner stick. This ensures a clean, even scent from start to finish, with none of the wood smoke of conventional incense sticks.
How to use long incense sticks – the right holder makes all the difference
Without an inner core, these sticks need firm support: stand them vertically in a deep vessel filled with fine incense ash, or in a heavy holder with deep, well-fitting holes. Light the tip, let it burn for two to three seconds, then gently blow out the flame – the stick will smoulder quietly from there. Make sure there is enough space underneath to catch the ash safely as it falls.
These long incense sticks make a refined gift for Japanese incense enthusiasts, or a quiet personal ritual for anyone who wants to give themselves more time for genuine wellbeing.
