Copal and Dammar Resin – Natural Resin Incense from Mexico and Asia (5)
Copal and Dammar resin in their most natural form – this collection brings together the most significant resin incense from Mexico and Asia for purification, meditation and the quiet care of wellbeing at home.
White Copal, black Copal, Manila Copal and Dammar resin
The selection includes four distinct resins, each rooted in a long tradition of fumigation in its region of origin:
White Copal (Mexico) – drawn from Bursera bipinnata, a central material in Mexican purification traditions for centuries. Clear, light and welcoming – well suited to purification rituals and daily meditation.
Black Copal (Mexico) – rarer than white Copal, deeper and denser in character. From the same botanical family, this resin incense brings a more grounding, darker presence to a space.
Manila Copal (Indonesia) – sourced from Agathis dammara, botanically and in character entirely its own. Soft, gently fruity and warm – an Asian resin with a long tradition in space purification.
Dammar resin (Indonesia) – a bright, clear resin from tropical Dipterocarpaceae, long used across Asia to scent and purify interiors. Available as natural pieces or in powder form.
How to use resin incense – purification, meditation and wellbeing
Copal and Dammar resin both require an external heat source. Light a charcoal tablet in a heat-resistant bowl, wait until it glows evenly, then place a small amount of resin on top – the fragrance releases immediately. For a gentler diffusion, the resin can also be warmed slowly over a tea light in a resin burner with a mesh screen.
Copal and Dammar resin make a meaningful, aromatic gift for anyone drawn to purification, nature and the slow rhythm of ritual.
