How to use burning woods – directly or on charcoal

Sticks such as palo santo are lit directly, held in the flame for a few seconds, then gently blown out – the wood continues to smoulder and release its fragrance slowly. Chips and powder work best on a fully glowing charcoal disc placed in a heat-resistant vessel. Always use a fireproof surface and ensure good ventilation during and after use.
