Kobunboku by Baieido is one of the classic Japanese incenses from this long-established manufacturer. This long version contains 80 g of incense sticks measuring 24 cm in length, offering the characteristic Kobunboku fragrance in a format designed for longer incense sessions.
The composition is based on Indian sandalwood (Santalum album), combining its warm woody fragrance with aromatic plants and spices. Characteristic ingredients of Kobunboku include cassia, star anise and patchouli. Together they create a complex fragrance in which the soft sandalwood base blends with distinctly perceptible spicy and herbal notes.
Warm, woody, spicy and distinctly herbal. Indian sandalwood provides the soft foundation, while cassia adds warm spice, star anise contributes a characteristic aromatic facet and patchouli brings a deeper, earthy note. As the incense burns, the different woody, herbal and spicy nuances may alternately become more prominent.
The name Kobunboku refers to the plum blossom, a traditional motif in Japanese culture. However, the name should not be understood as a description of the fragrance: the character of this incense is defined not by a plum blossom scent, but by sandalwood, aromatic plants and spices.
At 24 cm, these sticks are considerably longer than the standard Kobunboku version. The longer format is particularly suitable when you want the characteristic fragrance to remain present for an extended period, for example during meditation or longer incense sessions.
To use, light the tip of an incense stick, blow out the flame and place the smouldering stick in a holder suitable for long Japanese incense sticks. Use on a stable, fire-resistant surface.
