Product description
Banjara Arruda Rue is an Indian masala incense from the Ethno-Tribal Smudge Incense range. Made in Bangalore, these incense sticks are inspired by the characteristic fragrance of rue and release a green, herbal and slightly spicy fragrance with warm, earthy and gently resinous nuances.
Green, aromatic fragrance with spicy nuances
When burned, Banjara Arruda Rue develops a fresh, botanical and aromatic fragrance, rounded out by a pleasant warmth. Slightly earthy, resinous and gently sweet facets combine with a subtly sharp, almost bitter-spicy herbal note. The composition is reminiscent of the strong character of rue, yet is softer and more balanced than the intense scent of the fresh plant.
This sets Arruda Rue apart from more distinctly floral or sweet Indian incense sticks. Its distinctive herbal character is particularly appealing to those who appreciate green, aromatic fragrances.
Arruda – rue in Brazilian incense traditions
Arruda is the Portuguese name for rue, usually common rue (Ruta graveolens). This aromatic plant originally comes from the Mediterranean region and was introduced to Brazil during the colonial period, where it became firmly established in various folk and religious traditions.
In Brazilian traditions, Arruda is particularly associated with protection, blessing and symbolic purification. The plant plays a role in both popular Catholic customs and certain Afro-Brazilian rituals. Traditionally, it is believed to offer protection against the evil eye and unwanted influences. These beliefs form part of cultural and spiritual traditions and do not represent scientifically proven effects.
In Banjara Arruda Rue, the plant name describes the fragrance of the incense. As the manufacturer does not publish the complete formula, it cannot be confirmed whether natural rue, rue powder or rue essential oil is actually present in the mixture.
