Product description
Banjara White Sage is an Indian masala incense from the Ethno-Tribal Smudge Incense range. The incense sticks are made by R. M. Enterprises in Bangalore, India, and are characterised by a fresh, dry and herbal fragrance reminiscent of burning white sage.
Fresh, herbal fragrance of white sage
When burned, Banjara White Sage releases a distinctly botanical and aromatic fragrance with green, slightly earthy and resinous nuances. A subtle smoky note complements its dry herbal character. The composition is reminiscent of dried aromatic leaves and has a more herbaceous, natural character rather than a sweet or floral one.
The fragrance is inspired by the traditional burning of white sage. However, the exact composition of the incense mixture is not disclosed. The name White Sage therefore does not establish whether natural sage leaves, sage powder or sage essential oil are actually present.
White sage and its incense traditions
True white sage (Salvia apiana) is an aromatic shrub native mainly to southern California and northern Baja California. Its silvery-grey leaves release a strong, characteristic herbal fragrance when crushed or burned as incense.
White sage has long been used as an incense plant in the cultural and ceremonial traditions of certain Indigenous communities in North America. These practices are associated, among other things, with ideas of purification, protection and renewal. Banjara White Sage draws inspiration from this aromatic tradition but is an incense product made in India, not a traditional Native American smudge bundle.
Banjara Ethno-Tribal Smudge Incense
These incense sticks belong to Banjara's Ethno-Tribal Smudge Incense range, which draws inspiration from various aromatic plants and incense traditions. The masala incense mixture is applied to bamboo sticks, offering a convenient way to fill a room with a fragrance inspired by white sage.
