Red & Black Smudging Feather 30 cm

This approximately 30 cm long red and black smudging feather is a traditional tool for distributing smoke during smudging and incense rituals. Gentle movements with the feather allow the smoke from sage and other aromatic plants to be directed around a room or objects.

Smudging feathers are also used to gently supply air to smouldering incense material and help maintain the embers without blowing directly onto it. In various ritual smudging traditions, practitioners deliberately avoid directing their breath onto smouldering plants or incense blends.

Using the smudging feather

Move the feather with calm, fanning movements above or beside the smouldering material. This allows the rising smoke to be directed and distributed. The feather is particularly suitable for smudging with sage and other plants, as well as incense blends.
