Product description
Baieido Excellent Zukoh is a premium Japanese fragrance powder traditionally applied to the skin in small amounts. This special variety from the long-established manufacturer Baieido is distinguished by its soft, rounded and pleasantly sweet fragrance composition. The finely ground powder is based on sandalwood and other aromatic ingredients. It is not burned but used directly as a personal fragrance.
Excellent Zukoh – A particularly well-balanced fragrance composition
At the heart of Excellent Zukoh is the warm, woody fragrance of sandalwood. According to the Japanese supplier Kihara, cloves and borneol are also used. Borneol has a characteristic fresh, slightly camphor-like aroma and is one of the traditional aromatic ingredients used in Japanese incense culture.
Compared with the standard Baieido Tokusei Zukoh, Excellent Zukoh has a sweeter, softer and more rounded fragrance character. The aromatic wood and spice notes blend into a harmonious composition that is particularly suited to traditional use as a body fragrance.
The manufacturer does not disclose the complete formula or the proportions of the individual ingredients.
Zukoh – Fragrance powder in Japanese Buddhist tradition
Zukoh (塗香) refers to a traditional Japanese fragrance powder used without burning. It holds a special place in various Buddhist rituals.
In Japanese Buddhism, Zukoh is applied, among other occasions, before prayers, religious ceremonies and the copying of Buddhist sutras. This practice is traditionally associated with the concept of ritual purification and preparation for a religious activity.
The associated purification should be understood as a symbolic and religious tradition. It does not refer to any proven medical or hygienic effect of the powder.
Use without burning
To use, place a very small amount of fragrance powder in the palm of the hand and apply it sparingly to the skin. Even a small quantity is sufficient to appreciate its characteristic fragrance.
Unlike incense sticks or incense powders intended for burning, Zukoh requires neither a heat source nor an incense holder. It represents a distinct form of traditional Japanese fragrance culture.
Those with sensitive skin should first test their tolerance on a small area. Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes, and do not inhale the fine powder.
