Nippon Kodo Herb & Earth Frankincense – 20 Incense Sticks

Herb & Earth Frankincense by Nippon Kodo are slender, low-smoke incense sticks with a resinous, aromatic frankincense fragrance. The range comes from the Japanese brand Nippon Kodo but is manufactured in China. This version, featuring the green brand logo, belongs to the earlier packaging design of the Herb & Earth range.

Frankincense – The scent of olibanum

Frankincense, also known as olibanum, is associated with characteristic warm, resinous and aromatic notes. Herb & Earth Frankincense incense sticks capture this fragrance character and offer a convenient way to enjoy a room fragrance reminiscent of frankincense.

Frankincense has a long history as an incense material. In various cultures, the natural resin obtained from frankincense trees has been used for centuries in religious ceremonies, ritual incense burning and room scenting. Nippon Kodo's incense sticks offer a modern interpretation of this traditional fragrance and should not be confused with burning natural frankincense resin directly.

Low-smoke incense sticks with a bamboo core

A distinctive feature of the Herb & Earth range is the construction of its incense sticks: the aromatic incense mixture surrounds a very thin bamboo core. This construction is particularly familiar from Indian incense sticks, whereas traditional Japanese incense sticks are usually made without a bamboo core.

The sticks belong to the Less Smoke category and produce comparatively little smoke while burning. However, they are not completely smokeless. With a burning time of approximately 30 minutes per stick, they are suitable for scenting a room for a limited period.
