Kunjudo HA KO Black Awaken – Japanese Incense Paper

Kunjudo HA KO Black Awaken is a Japanese incense paper made from perfumed washi paper on Awaji Island. Its carefully embossed and cut shape resembles a real tree leaf: fine leaf veins and a detailed silhouette make HA KO both an incense product and a small decorative fragrance object.

HA KO is an original creation by Kunjudo, produced using a patented manufacturing process. Its name combines the Japanese words for leaf and fragrance or incense. Each leaf shape serves an aesthetic purpose within the series and does not necessarily correspond to the plant used to create the fragrance.

HA KO Black Awaken – eucalyptus and elemi

Awaken combines eucalyptus and elemi in a fresh, aromatic fragrance composition. The clear character of eucalyptus meets the distinctive resinous and aromatic nuances of elemi. Compared with the warm, balsamic notes of HA KO Black Dive, Awaken therefore has a distinctly fresher character.

The HA KO Black series is the more contemporary and intensely formulated line within the HA KO collection and is made with a high proportion of natural essential oils. Names such as Awaken, Dive, Relax, Focus and Sleep represent the different fragrance moods of the series.

Use as incense paper or a scented leaf

To burn as incense, light one end of the leaf and then blow out the flame. Place the smouldering leaf on a fireproof surface and allow it to burn slowly. The burning time is approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Do not leave unattended while smouldering.

HA KO can also be used without burning. The leaf can, for example, be placed inside a book or letter, or displayed as a small decorative fragrance object, where it gradually releases its scent. The principle can be compared with Papier d’Arménie, but HA KO is a distinctive Japanese creation made from washi paper in an artfully crafted leaf shape.
