This Ispalla Palo Santo & Herbal Incense Stick Set brings together four varieties handmade in Peru: pure Palo Santo and three combinations with eucalyptus, rosemary and rue. Each box contains 10 incense sticks, giving the set a total of 40 sticks.
According to the manufacturer, the Palo Santo used comes from wood that has fallen naturally to the ground. No trees are therefore cut down for their production. The manufacturer also states that the incense sticks have official certification from the Peruvian authorities relating to the sustainable use of natural Palo Santo populations.
Four varieties of Palo Santo
The set contrasts the warm, woody and slightly balsamic character of Palo Santo with three different herbal notes:
-
Palo Santo: the original variety, with the characteristic warm and woody fragrance of Palo Santo at its heart.
-
Palo Santo & Eucalyptus: combines the warm woody notes with the fresh, green and aromatic character of eucalyptus.
-
Palo Santo & Rosemary: complements the wood with distinctly herbal, fresh and spicy notes.
-
Palo Santo & Rue: a more distinctive plant combination with a green, herbal and slightly bitter character.
The four varieties make it possible to compare pure Palo Santo directly with the different herbal combinations. The underlying character of the South American incense wood remains present, while eucalyptus, rosemary and rue each add their own aromatic accents.
Handmade in Peru
The Ispalla incense sticks are hand-rolled in Peru. The set contains 4 boxes with 10 incense sticks each. The burning time is approximately 30 min per stick.
How to use
Light the tip of an incense stick and allow it to burn briefly. Then gently blow out the flame and place the glowing stick in a suitable incense holder. The four varieties can be used individually and compared with one another to discover the different fragrance profiles of the herbal blends.
