Product description
This Japanese cast iron Furin wind chime is shaped like a stylised seashell. Its fan-shaped surface with pronounced ridges resembles a scallop shell. The dark green finish with its bluish patina highlights the sculpted texture and gives this small wind chime a distinctive character.
Made in Japan, this wind chime combines a maritime motif with the traditional Japanese culture of Furin (風鈴). When hung in a suitable location, a breeze can move the clapper and produce a metallic ringing sound.
Furin – traditional Japanese wind chimes
In Japan, Furin have been part of everyday summer culture for centuries. They are often hung by windows, beneath the eaves or on verandas, where even a gentle breeze can set them ringing.
The delicate ringing sound is traditionally associated with a refreshing summer breeze. Cast iron wind chimes in particular are known for their characteristic metallic sound. Beyond their decorative function, they bring a small touch of traditional Japanese living culture into the home.
Shell shape with a textured surface
This model differs from classic bell-shaped Furin through its compact, shell-shaped design. The radiating ridges give the surface depth, while the dark finish with greenish-blue tones is reminiscent of an aged metal patina.
The wind chime is suitable as a decoration by a window, in an entrance area or on a balcony sheltered from rain. For a clearly audible sound, it should hang freely and be able to move without obstruction in the breeze.
