Product description

This Japanese cast iron Furin wind chime features a decorative fish with a rounded body, prominent fins and a large, curved tail. The vibrant red finish highlights the sculpted scales and individual contours of the fish. Made in Japan, this wind chime combines a playful animal motif with the traditional Japanese culture of Furin.

The bell is suspended by a cord. When there is sufficient movement of air, the clapper attached beneath it can produce a metallic ringing sound. With its unusual fish shape, this model is also a decorative object for enthusiasts of Japanese everyday culture.

Furin – the sound of the Japanese summer

Furin (風鈴) are traditional Japanese wind chimes, particularly popular during the warm summer months when they are hung by windows, beneath the eaves and on verandas. In Japan, their ringing has long been associated with a gentle, refreshing breeze.

Cast iron wind chimes have a characteristic metallic sound. Unlike Furin commonly made from glass, cast iron models are distinguished by their robust material appearance and the wide range of sculptural designs they allow.
