This small Japanese Furin wind chime in the shape of an owl combines the tradition of Japanese wind chimes with an original animal motif. The dark brown bell is designed as a stylised owl and is made in Japan.
Furin (風鈴) are traditional Japanese wind chimes particularly associated with summer. They are hung in places where a gentle breeze can set the bell in motion. Their sound has long been part of the summer atmosphere in Japan.
The owl also has a special significance in Japanese symbolism. The Japanese word for owl, fukurō (ふくろう), is associated through wordplay with good fortune and keeping difficulties away, among other meanings. Owl motifs are therefore also widely used as symbols of good luck in Japan.
Use
The wind chime can be hung, for example, on a door, terrace or balcony. Movement in the breeze causes the clapper inside the bell to move, producing its characteristic sound.
