Kunjudo Furyu-Kajin Orchid & Musk are Japanese incense sticks from the calligraphy-inspired Furyu-Kajin (風流香人) series. The Ranja (蘭麝) variety combines an oriental-inspired orchid note with the warm character of musk. This composition is complemented by a distinctive fragrance nuance reminiscent of traditional Japanese Sumi ink.

Furyu-Kajin – A tribute to Japanese calligraphy

Kunjudo's Furyu-Kajin series draws inspiration from the aesthetics of Japanese calligraphy. Known as Shodō (書道), this art form combines the creation of written characters with a brush, paper and traditional Sumi ink.

The characteristic odour of this ink serves as inspiration for the fragrance compositions in the series. Kunjudo combines the resulting fragrance note with a variety of floral and botanically inspired fragrance profiles.

The packaging also reflects this cultural connection. Japanese characters and a simple illustration of an orchid emphasise the understated design. The Japanese product name Ranja (蘭麝) refers to the two defining fragrance notes of orchid and musk.

Japanese incense sticks in Mini format

The Mini version offered here contains approximately 50 incense sticks with a total weight of around 14 g. Measuring approximately 9.5 cm in length and with a burning time of around 20 minutes, these short sticks are suitable for individual incense-burning sessions.

Furyu-Kajin is made by the Japanese company Kunjudo on the island of Awaji, a long-established centre of Japanese incense production. The incense sticks produce a normal amount of smoke and do not belong to the manufacturer's low-smoke ranges.

To use, light the tip of an incense stick, gently blow out the flame and place the glowing stick in a suitable, heat-resistant incense holder. Ensure adequate ventilation while burning incense and never leave the glowing stick unattended.
