Kunjudo Takara Hinoki – Reduced-Smoke Incense Sticks

Takara Hinoki by Kunjudo is a Japanese incense with a fragrance reminiscent of hinoki, the Japanese cypress. It belongs to the environmentally conscious Eco-Takara series and is characterised by slightly reduced smoke production.

For the base, Kunjudo uses cypress powder, bamboo powder and aromatic ingredients. Previously unused wood materials from cypress and bamboo processing are also incorporated. In this way, the manufacturer combines incense production with an effort to make the most effective use of existing raw materials.

Hinoki – the fragrance of Japanese cypress

This variety centres on the fragrance of hinoki. Kunjudo describes the incense as inspired by the scent of cypress. The use of cypress powder as a base material is documented, but no more detailed aromatic composition is disclosed. Therefore, no additional fragrance notes or specific hinoki aromatic substances are inferred as ingredients.

According to Kunjudo, smoke production is slightly reduced. The sticks measure approximately 13.5 cm in length and burn for around 20 minutes, providing a comparatively short period of room fragrance.

Eco Takara – making more conscious use of raw materials

Kunjudo describes Eco Takara as an incense series developed with consideration for nature and the environment, using carefully selected raw materials. This includes the use of previously unused wood materials from cypress and bamboo, through which the manufacturer aims to contribute to forest conservation.

Since 2009, Kunjudo has also donated a portion of the revenue from Eco-Takara products to the Setouchi Olive Fund, supporting nature and plant conservation activities.
