Product description

Shoyeido Magnifiscents Mystic Jade – Peace is a Japanese incense composition from the Magnifiscents collection by Shoyeido, the long-established Kyoto-based manufacturer. Its warm, resinous and delicately spiced fragrance combines balsamic myrrh notes with sandalwood and aromatic spices. The original light green pack contains 30 Japanese incense sticks without a bamboo core.

A balsamic fragrance with myrrh, sandalwood and cloves

Mystic Jade has a warm, balanced fragrance character in which resinous and woody nuances take centre stage. The composition combines the balsamic depth of myrrh with the soft warmth of sandalwood and a subtle aromatic spiciness.

The earlier product description lists sandalwood, cloves, myrrh and other spices. These historically documented details describe the aromatic foundation of the composition but do not constitute a conclusively confirmed ingredient list.

Myrrh is an aromatic tree resin that has been used in various incense traditions since antiquity. Its fragrance has warm, balsamic, slightly bitter and earthy facets. These give Mystic Jade its distinctive resinous depth.

Sandalwood complements the composition with a gentle, slightly sweet woody note. The aromatic spiciness of cloves adds a warmer, somewhat more intense accent. Additional spicy nuances complete the fragrance profile.

The interplay creates a rather soft yet complex incense fragrance. Balsamic warmth takes centre stage, while the spicy and slightly bitter nuances provide depth. Mystic Jade is particularly appealing to enthusiasts of traditional-style Japanese incense fragrances with resinous and woody notes.

Mystic Jade – Peace: The symbolism of jade

Shoyeido's Magnifiscents collection combines different fragrance creations with symbolic themes. Mystic Jade belongs to the Jewel family, whose varieties are named after precious and ornamental stones.

The additional designation Peace means peace and provides the symbolic theme of this incense composition.

Jade has a long history, particularly in East Asian cultures, as an ornamental stone and a material used in decorative craftsmanship. In Chinese culture, it is traditionally associated with virtue, constancy and harmony. These cultural associations provide a fitting background to the name Peace, without implying any proven effect of the incense.

The original light green packaging, with its flowing colour transitions, reflects the characteristic shades of green jade. The fragrance composition also has a balanced character, in which warm resin notes, soft sandalwood and aromatic spices complement one another.

A distinctive incense composition by Shoyeido

The Japanese incense manufacturer Shoyeido has a history dating back to 1705. The Kyoto-based company is known for its expertise in traditional incense blends made from aromatic woods, resins, spices and other botanical fragrance ingredients.

With the Magnifiscents collection, Shoyeido developed a range of distinctive fragrance creations combining Japanese incense craftsmanship with contemporary fragrance concepts and symbolic product names.

Mystic Jade – Peace has a commercial connection to the earlier Magnifiscents variety Peace from the historical Angelic family. Both are described as featuring myrrh, sandalwood and spicy fragrance notes. However, this does not establish that the different versions share an entirely identical formula.

Within the Jewel family, Mystic Jade differs from the more frankincense-focused Obsidian – Hope through its pronounced myrrh notes. Compared with Rose Crystal – Love, whose historically documented fragrance character is more strongly influenced by benzoin and spikenard, Mystic Jade has a slightly more austere, resinous and spicy profile.

The incense sticks offered here come from an earlier original version of the Magnifiscents Jewel collection.

Contents and use

The original pack contains 30 Japanese incense sticks measuring approximately 14 cm in length. The average burning time is around 30 minutes per stick.

The incense sticks have no bamboo core. To use, briefly light the tip, gently blow out the flame and place the glowing stick in a suitable, heat-resistant incense holder.

Ensure adequate ventilation while burning incense and never leave burning incense sticks unattended.
