Taiyo – inspired by the light of the sun

Taiyo means "sun" in Japanese. Nippon Kodo associates this incense series with the image of sunlight spreading across the landscape. The fragrance compositions in the Taiyo series are characterised by their peaceful nature and reduced smoke production.

Byakudan Taiyo is one of the longstanding fragrances in this series. When the Taiyo collection was renewed in 2022, the traditional sandalwood fragrance was retained, while the packaging and pack sizes were revised.

Nippon Kodo describes Byakudan Taiyo as a peaceful, mild sandalwood composition whose fragrance is intended to evoke a tranquil landscape bathed in the warm light of the setting sun.

The fragrance has a pleasantly woody character with the gentle warmth typical of sandalwood. Smoke production is significantly reduced, distinguishing Byakudan Taiyo from classic Japanese incense sticks with normal smoke production.

Nippon Kodo lists tabu bark, charcoal and aromatic ingredients as the main materials for the current version of this fragrance. The exact formula of the older 190 g version is not fully documented. Further details about the botanical species and geographical origin of the sandalwood used are not provided.

This version of Byakudan Taiyo contains approximately 190 g of Japanese incense sticks. Each stick measures around 14 cm in length and burns for approximately 25 minutes.

This is the earlier large pack from the Taiyo series. The current Japanese version is offered in a smaller package, while this 190 g version provides a more generous supply of the classic sandalwood fragrance.
