Nippon Kodo Kayuragi Hinoki Cypress – 40 Japanese Incense Sticks

Kayuragi Hinoki Cypress by Nippon Kodo is a Japanese incense with a fresh and tranquil fragrance reminiscent of Hinoki, the Japanese cypress. This clear woody fragrance belongs to the traditional wood notes of the diverse Kayuragi series.

The 40 Japanese incense sticks are made without bamboo cores and are presented together with a small ceramic holder in a paulownia wood box. This lightweight wood protects the incense sticks from moisture. The outer design of the Kayuragi series is inspired by Japanese kimono fabrics, combining a smooth surface with expressive colours.

Fresh fragrance of Japanese cypress

Kayuragi Hinoki Cypress has a fresh, woody and pleasantly tranquil fragrance character reminiscent of Japanese cypress. Unlike the floral and fruity varieties in the Kayuragi series, the focus here is on a clear woody fragrance note.

The manufacturer identifies Japanese Cypress, or Hinoki, as the characteristic fragrance note. However, the precise aromatic composition is not disclosed. The fragrance description therefore does not establish that the incense actually contains Hinoki wood or Hinoki essential oil.

Kayuragi – fragrance and gently rising smoke

The name Kayuragi combines ka, meaning fragrance, with yuragi, the slow, undulating movement of drifting smoke. The concept of the series is therefore based not only on the perceived fragrance, but also on the sight of incense smoke gently rising and drifting through the room.

Each incense stick measures approximately 14 cm in length and burns for around 25 minutes. Alongside traditional wood notes such as Hinoki, the Kayuragi series also includes various floral and fruity Japanese fragrance compositions.
