Nippon Kodo Kyara Eiju Japanese Incense Sticks

Kyara Eiju by Nippon Kodo is the finest version within the Eiju family and places Kyara at the heart of its fragrance composition. Kyara refers to a particularly highly prized quality of agarwood (aloeswood) that has held an exceptional place in Japanese incense culture for centuries.

Compared with Byakudan Eiju and its soft sandalwood character, and Jinkoh Eiju with its deeper agarwood note, Kyara Eiju moves into an even more complex fragrance direction. The fragrance is deep, warm and multifaceted, with elegant woody and subtly sweet facets. As is typical of high-quality Japanese incense compositions, its character is not defined by a single dominant fragrance note, but develops through different nuances as the incense burns.

Kyara and Japanese Incense Culture

Kyara holds a special place among traditional Japanese incense woods. The term refers to exceptionally prized, highly resinous agarwood and is closely associated with the Japanese art of incense appreciation. Due to its rarity and complex aroma, Kyara has traditionally been regarded as one of the most precious qualities in the world of agarwood.

Kyara Eiju in Two Formats

Kyara Eiju is available as a compact roll carefully wrapped in paper containing approximately 20 g of incense sticks, as well as in a large box containing approximately 170 g. The roll format is easy to store and transport, while the larger pack is particularly suitable for regular incense burning.

The incense sticks are made in Japan by Nippon Kodo. To burn, light the tip of a stick, then blow out the flame and place the smouldering incense stick in a suitable holder.
