Nippon Kodo Sasara Bincho-Tan – Unscented Incense Sticks 120 g

Sasara Bincho-Tan by Nippon Kodo is a distinctive Japanese incense for those who deliberately prefer to avoid added fragrances. These black incense sticks are unscented and made from tabu bark, Bincho-Tan and bamboo charcoal.

Nippon Kodo designed Sasara as an incense with very low smoke production and no added fragrance. A faint natural odour from the raw materials may nevertheless be noticeable during burning. "Unscented" therefore does not mean that burning the incense produces no odour whatsoever.

Bincho-Tan and bamboo charcoal

The composition combines Bincho-Tan with bamboo charcoal and tabu bark. Bincho-Tan is a traditional Japanese charcoal produced at high temperatures and characterised by its dense, hard structure.

According to Nippon Kodo, Sasara also contains an odour-reducing component. The manufacturer describes the product as an incense intended to reduce unwanted odours rather than mask them with an additional fragrance.

Sasara – Japanese incense with an understated character

At Nippon Kodo, the name Sasara represents a product concept centred on traditional Japanese craftsmanship and natural materials. For this particular variety, Bincho-Tan and bamboo charcoal are combined with tabu bark.

With no added fragrance and very little smoke production, Sasara Bincho-Tan differs considerably from classic Japanese incense sticks, where a particular composition of woods, flowers or spices takes centre stage.
