Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens) is an aromatic wood from South America that is traditionally burned as incense. These Palo Santo wood pieces come from Peru and are available in two generous pack sizes of 100 g or 250 g. The individual pieces are approximately 10 cm long and have a diameter of around 1.5 cm.
The Spanish name “Palo Santo” means “Holy Wood”. The wood has long been used in various South American incense traditions and is associated, among other things, with the ritual cleansing of spaces and people, as well as with meditation and spiritual practices. These meanings belong to traditional practices and should not be understood as scientifically proven effects.
When burned as incense, Palo Santo releases a warm, woody and slightly sweet fragrance. Resinous and earthy notes blend with fresh, lightly citrusy nuances and a subtle minty accent. Its characteristic aroma clearly distinguishes Palo Santo from more strongly herbaceous incense plants such as white sage.
A piece of Palo Santo wood can be used directly without incense charcoal:
The resulting smoke is suitable for traditional incense burning, meditation or simply for fragrancing a room. Never leave smouldering incense unattended and always use a fireproof surface.
The Palo Santo is available in a choice of 100 g or 250 g. The larger size is particularly suitable for regular users or for keeping a supply on hand.
As Palo Santo is a natural product, the shape, colour, size and weight of the individual wood pieces may vary slightly.
