Papier d’Arménie Tradition in a set of 12 booklets is the value pack of the classic French incense paper, produced in Montrouge near Paris since 1885. The small green booklets are the original and best-known version of Papier d’Arménie, combining a long manufacturing tradition with a particularly simple way to fragrance rooms.

The characteristic fragrance is based on benzoin resin and has a warm, balsamic and slightly sweet character. When a strip of paper is allowed to smoulder, the distinctive fragrance of Papier d’Arménie unfolds and quickly spreads throughout the room.

The classic Papier d’Arménie since 1885

Papier d’Arménie originated in France at the end of the 19th century. The idea came from Auguste Ponsot, who discovered the use of benzoin resin to fragrance interiors during a journey to Armenia. Together with the pharmacist Henri Rivier, he developed a paper perfumed with benzoin that could be allowed to smoulder slowly. Production began in 1885 and continues to this day in Montrouge, south of Paris.

The Tradition version is the brand’s original. Its fragrance differs from the later Arménie and Rose variations and represents the classic olfactory character with which Papier d’Arménie has been associated for generations.

Easy to use as incense paper

To use, detach a strip of paper from the booklet, fold it like an accordion and place it on a heat-resistant surface. Light one end and immediately blow out the flame. The paper should smoulder slowly rather than burn with an open flame. Do not leave unattended while smouldering and keep out of reach of children.

The paper can also be used without burning. Individual strips can, for example, be placed in cupboards, drawers or other small spaces, where they gradually release their fragrance.
