Nippon Kodo Seiun Gold – Kyara Incense Sticks 95 g

Seiun Gold by Nippon Kodo is a Japanese incense with a complex fragrance composition inspired by the character of precious kyara. Fruity, sweet, floral and spicy notes draw on the traditional concept of the five fragrance qualities of agarwood, interpreting them in a modern way.

The five fragrance qualities of agarwood

In Japanese fragrance culture, agarwood is traditionally associated with five taste or fragrance qualities: pungent, sweet, sour, salty and bitter. With Seiun Gold, Nippon Kodo explicitly refers to these five qualities, drawing inspiration from the particularly balanced character traditionally associated with high-quality kyara.

The result is far more than a simple woody fragrance. Nippon Kodo describes a complex combination of sweet-and-tart fruity notes, honey and Bulgarian rose, complemented by spicy accents of cinnamon, coriander and clove. Together, the sweet, floral and spicy facets create a complex fragrance with a distinctly Oriental and spicy character.

Kyara as an olfactory inspiration

Kyara refers to a particularly highly prized grade of agarwood and holds an exceptional place in Japanese fragrance culture. With Seiun Gold, its complex aromatic character serves as the inspiration for the composition.

Nippon Kodo does not disclose the precise formula of this product. The Japanese manufacturer lists tabu bark and aromatic ingredients as the main materials. The name Kyara and the fragrance notes mentioned therefore describe the olfactory character of the incense; the available manufacturer information does not establish whether natural kyara or agarwood is present in the blend, or in what form or quantity.

Low smoke production and approximately 25 minutes of burning time

When burning, Seiun Gold produces considerably less smoke than a conventional incense stick, although it is not virtually smokeless. This allows the complex fragrance composition to take centre stage.

The pack contains approximately 95 g of Japanese incense sticks. Each stick measures around 14 cm in length and burns for approximately 25 minutes.
