Shoyeido Overtones Vanilla is a Japanese incense that places the soft, sweet fragrance of vanilla at the heart of its composition. Within the Overtones range, Shoyeido interprets familiar aromatic materials in the form of finely balanced Japanese incense sticks, with each variety offering its own clearly recognisable fragrance character.
The composition combines sandalwood, vanilla, benzoin and spices. Vanilla shapes the fragrance with its soft, warm sweetness, while sandalwood provides a gentle woody foundation. The balsamic note of benzoin and the accompanying spices add further depth to the blend. The result is a warm, rounded fragrance with sweet, woody and subtly spicy nuances.
Overtones Vanilla reveals a different side of the range from the varieties with more pronounced woody, resinous or spicy characteristics. The vanilla note is clearly at the forefront, yet it is incorporated into a balanced incense composition and combined with sandalwood, benzoin and spices. This creates a Japanese interpretation of the familiar fragrance of vanilla that is not defined by sweetness alone.
The Overtones range comprises seven fragrances: Sandalwood, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Frankincense, Tea Leaves, Palo Santo and Patchouli. Each composition brings a particular principal aromatic note to the forefront and interprets it in Shoyeido's refined style.
According to Shoyeido, the Overtones Vanilla formula is one of the house's older compositions. The incense sticks are made in Japan without synthetic fragrance oils, synthetic binders or artificial fragrances.
Each pack contains 35 incense sticks measuring 22 cm in length. The burning time is approximately 50 minutes per stick.
