Product description
Shoyeido Sitting Zen is a traditional Japanese incense from Kyoto, featuring exceptionally long incense sticks with a burning time of approximately two hours. It belongs to Shoyeido's Zen collection and was developed for extended incense-burning sessions, particularly in connection with the Japanese practice of seated meditation known as Zazen.
Sandalwood with gentle spicy notes
The fragrance composition of Shoyeido Sitting Zen is based on sandalwood, cloves and cinnamon. Sandalwood gives it a warm, soft and woody character, while cloves and cinnamon add a subtle aromatic spiciness.
The result is a balanced, relatively understated fragrance in which the woody and spicy notes blend harmoniously. The ingredients mentioned are among the known components of the composition but do not represent its complete formula.
Extra-long incense sticks for Zazen
In the Japanese Zen tradition, Zazen refers to seated meditation. Incense has long been used in this cultural and religious setting. Thanks to their exceptional length, the slow-burning Sitting Zen incense sticks are particularly suitable for extended meditation sessions.
Measuring approximately 33 cm in length and with a burning time of around 2 hours, they differ considerably from ordinary Japanese incense sticks. A suitable, stable incense holder with a sufficiently large fireproof base is recommended for use.
