Shoyeido Xiang Do Vanilla No. 45 is a Japanese incense from Kyoto with a soft, sweet fragrance inspired by the vanilla pod. The composition belongs to Shoyeido's Xiang-Do collection, whose short, particularly compact incense sticks are produced using a specially developed compression process.

Vanilla – a soft and pleasantly sweet fragrance

Xiang Do Vanilla interprets the characteristic fragrance of vanilla in a gentle, harmonious composition. Shoyeido describes the aroma as light and rounded, yet rich and characterised by a pleasant sweetness.

The fragrance evokes the warm, soft character of a vanilla pod. Its sweet nuances are full and enveloping without losing the lightness of the composition. The Japanese fragrance description also suggests a delicate, slightly bittersweet facet that adds another dimension to the vanilla aroma.

Traditional Japanese incense sticks are usually made by pressing an aromatic mixture through a die and extruding it into long sticks. With Xiang Do, however, the incense material is compressed directly into a mould. This produces short, compact incense sticks with a particularly smooth and uniform surface.

This special manufacturing technique is a characteristic feature of the Xiang-Do series. It allows Shoyeido to offer different fragrance compositions in a consistent, carefully shaped incense format.

A vanilla fragrance from Kyoto

With Xiang Do Vanilla, Shoyeido combines the Japanese art of incense with a modern fragrance creation inspired by vanilla. Unlike classic Japanese incense sticks, whose character is often defined by sandalwood, agarwood or spices, this composition focuses on a gentle, sweet and gourmand fragrance note.

Each pack contains 20 incense sticks measuring approximately 7 cm in length, together with a small incense holder. The burning time is approximately 15 minutes per stick.
