Product description

Suk by ChuiWoon HyangDang is a high-quality Korean incense whose composition is particularly characterised by juniper from the South Korean island of Ulleungdo. According to the manufacturer, Suk contains juniper (Seokhyang/Ulhyang Juniper), agarwood (Aquilaria agallocha) and spices.

Like the other incense sticks in this series, Suk is made without synthetic oils, synthetic binders or artificial fragrances. The elegant dark gift box emphasises the distinctive character of this incense and makes Suk an attractive gift for enthusiasts and connoisseurs of Korean incense culture.

Juniper from Ulleungdo Island

At the heart of the composition is a distinctive juniper from Ulleungdo (Ulleung-do), a South Korean volcanic island in the Sea of Japan. ChuiWoon HyangDang specifically highlights this juniper as a characteristic ingredient of Suk and refers to it as Seokhyang or Ulhyang Juniper.

According to the manufacturer, this juniper grows in crevices in the island's granite bedrock. The incense uses the fragrant material of the juniper that has naturally matured over a long period of time. ChuiWoon HyangDang describes its fragrance as particularly intense and long-lasting. This origin gives Suk a distinctly Korean character within the range.

Fragrance profile

Suk develops a deep, woody-spicy and resinous fragrance profile. Juniper contributes a distinctive aromatic woody note, while agarwood gives the composition additional depth. Spicy nuances complement the two woods to create a powerful and multifaceted incense fragrance.

A distinctive Korean incense

The combination of juniper from Ulleungdo with agarwood clearly distinguishes Suk from many classic Japanese incense sticks and also from the other compositions by ChuiWoon HyangDang. Rather than sandalwood taking centre stage, the focus here is on an aromatic material whose origin is directly connected to a Korean island.

The gift box contains 40 g of incense. The incense sticks are approximately 14 cm long and have a burning time of around 40 minutes.

Suk is made by ChuiWoon HyangDang in South Korea.
