Baieido Tokusen Kobunboku, also known as Excellent Kobunboku, is the higher-grade version of the classic Kobunboku. This version contains 24 cm long incense sticks in a 75 g pack. The traditional composition is based on Indian sandalwood and enriched with Indonesian agarwood, giving it greater woody depth and a less distinctly herbal character than the classic Kobunboku.

Sandalwood and Indonesian agarwood

The composition is made from a total of 15 natural aromatic ingredients. Ingredients specified by Baieido include Indian sandalwood, Indonesian agarwood, cassia, star anise, patchouli and clove. The remaining ingredients in the complete formula are not individually disclosed.

In terms of fragrance, Tokusen Kobunboku combines a warm sandalwood base with the deeper woody character of agarwood and spicy, aromatic nuances. Compared with the classic Kobunboku, the herbal character is somewhat less pronounced.
